Education

Graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in biology from St. Petersburg College with a 4.0 GPA. Accepted into a Master's/PhD fast track program with a focus in Genomics at the University of South Florida, starting in Fall of 2020.

Experience

I have tutored college science courses at St. Petersburg College for 5 years, where I continue to work. I have plenty of experience tutoring all classes within a Bachelor's of Biology program, however most students who seek my help are those taking chemistry or general biology courses. Though the courses that I took were through SPC, over the years I have helped students taking classes from most major colleges in Florida (USF, UCF, FSU, and UF). I am also experienced doing group study sessions, as I have conducted a multitude of workshops at SPC; these are attended by as few as three people or as many as a class's worth of twenty people. Outside of SPC, I have also conducted private tutoring sessions with individuals and with groups. My formal education is thus predominantly in science, but I have worked extensively on my own time programming. I have also taken the following programming classes at SPC: Intro to Programming (Python), C# Programming I, Java I, Java II, C++, and advanced C++. I am currently working on an independent study regarding pancreatic exocrine sequencing data, utilizing computational methods to search for novel non-coding genes. My primary role in this study is the development of software to aid in our analyses; I have thus written multiple Python-based tools to this end. Despite not having gone through a degree in software, I am confident in my abilities to help those starting out in programming courses. I am passionate about science and enjoy sharing that passion with others. For students seeking a deeper explanation of concepts, I am happy to help. I also realize plenty of students need to get past classes like organic chemistry without poring over every minutia of a reaction's mechanism. For that, I've developed plenty of tricks over the years to help you get the grade you need.
